Pan fry your bacon as you normally would, cooking until crispy. Remove the bacon from the pan and set aside for later (placing your bacon on a dish lined with paper towels helps absorb excess oil and keep them crispy). Be sure to save your bacon grease in the pan.

In the same pan you used to cook your bacon, combine flour, sugar, pepper, and salt over medium eat. Mix thoroughly.

In a large bowl mix together the egg, vinegar, and water. Stir until the egg has been completely incorporated into the mixture. Gradually pour and stir into the pan. Cook until thick and smooth, then remove from heat.

Potato salad,

or kartoffelsalat, is a common side dish that accompanies many holiday

meals, primarily paired with heavier Christmas dinners.

German

utilizes a lot of compound nouns,

meaning that instead of creating a brand new  word to describe something, two existing words are combined

into one. Kartoffelsalat is  a fairly logical                                                        combination, and a simplistic example,

since we don't have a unique                                                                              singular word for potato salad in

English either. In German, it's                                                                               all one word–a dish made from

mixing things, with the primary                                                                             ingredient being potatoes? Easy.

Push kartoffel ("potato") and salat ("salad") together and you've got a one word noun to describe this delicious dish.
