polish stuffed cabbage

(Nana's golabki)

Ingredients:

Recipe:

  • 1 head of green cabbage

  • 2 pounds of ground beef

  • 4 cups of water

  •  2 eggs

  • ¼ teaspoon of black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon of salt

  • 1 large yellow onion

  • ½ cup of uncooked rice

  • 4 cans of Campbell's tomato soup

  • Sour cream (optional)

Instructions:

Boil the head of cabbage until the leaves are soft. Remove leaves from water and place to the side.

Mix 2 pounds of ground beef with 1 can of soup and 1 cup of water.

Add 2 eggs and mix well.

Add the salt and black pepper.

Chop and add the onion. Mix.

Add the ½ cup of uncooked rice.

Mix together until well combined.

Take a soft cabbage leaf and approx. ¼ a cup of the meat mixture. Put the mixture in the cabbage leaf and roll, making sure to tuck in the ends.

Put the rolled cabbage leaves in an oven-safe pan and repeat for all the remaining meat mixture and cabbage leaves.

Take 3 cans of soup and mix them in a large mixing bowl with 3 cups of water. Stir until well combined.

Pour the mixture on top of the rolled cabbage.

Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Lastly, serve and enjoy! Sour cream makes a great garnish, though completely optional.
